Obituary of William J. Duffy
William J. Duffy Jr., 60, of Salt Springville Road, Ft. Plain died Monday evening at home.
Born on September 20, 1945 in Utica, NY he was the son of the late William J. Duffy Sr. and Marguerite Booth. He was raised in Oneonta and was a 1964 graduate of Oneonta High School. Bill then went on to attend SUNY Oneonta and received his degree in 1968.
Bill taught for a time in the Liverpool area, before accepting a position with Pitney Bowes in Boston as an account executive. In 1980 he and his wife then moved to Ft. Plain. Bill then became an artist and collecting antiques. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Bill was predeceased by two sisters Patricia William and Maureen Duffy.
His loving family includes his mother; his wife, the former Phyllis Cicora whom he was united in marriage on July, 10 1976; one son, William J. Duffy III Ginger LaChapelle both of Arlington, VA; one sister Karen Clinton of Stittville, NY; and one grandson, Kevin Riley Duffy; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 12:30p.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Reid Street, Ft. Plain with the Rev. Kenneth Swain as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12068.
