Obituary of Michael Joseph Kowalewich

Michael Joseph Kowalewich, 62, of Greene Street, passed away Sunday morning at St. Mary?s Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Rouyn, Quebec, Canada, on Dec. 23, 1943, he was the son of Paul and Olga Urbanowich Kowalewich. He lived in this area since 1972 and retired in October from Wal-Mart in Amsterdam. He leaves behind his wife, the former Jeanette Samko, whom he married on Dec. 16, 1972; a son; Mark Kowalewich, a daughter, Holly Guadagno; grandchildren; Garrick Wager, Clarissa and Hillary Guadagno; his father and mother in law; Gus and Josephine Samko, all of Amsterdam; a brother, Paul Kowalewich and a sister, Rose Scott both of Canada, brother and sister in-law William and Annie Samko of Niskayuna, and nieces and nephews. Services are at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, in care of the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, 12010, to whom the family has entrusted his arrangements.
