Imogene May Weaver of Gloversville, died July 25, 2006 with her family at her side. She was 76 years old.
Born December 12, 1929 in Jermyn, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Kurt and Lucille Miller. Jean graduated in 1946 from Greenfield Township High School in Greenfield, Pennsylvania and from the Scranton Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1947. She moved to Gloversville in 1947, where she met and was married to the love of her life and best friend, Francis ?Charlie? Weaver. They were married for 57 years until his death in 2005.
During her first years in Gloversville, Jean was employed by the New York Telephone Company and the Quality Dairy. She then worked for the N.A. Taylor Company and Taylor Made Products as an executive secretary for 20 years. She was the owner of Highland Hill Pet Supply and after that was employed by the American Language Center at Fulton Montgomery Community College. Finally, Jean was Certificate and Share Draft Coordinator at the Fulton County Federal Credit Union.
Jean was a hard-working, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who encouraged the passions of her children and grandchildren. She followed her son Bill and his band to numerous gigs in the 1960?s, her daughter Sally to countless horse shows in the 1970?s, and in helping to raise her grandson Christian, spent many hours at baseball games and other sporting events in the 1980?s.
Jean loved to travel, especially when it was just her and her beloved Francis. They had a special fondness for the seashore and took innumerable trips to Rhode Island and Maine. Jean was raised on a farm and loved animals, particularly dogs. She was a talented cook and loved nothing more than gatherings that centered around family and food. She was a gentle person who will be remembered for her patience, generosity and quick wit.
