Obituary of Dawn N. Husted
Dawn N. Husted, 69, former resident of Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam, resident for ten years of Bliss Road, Stratford, passed away on Saturday at the Little Falls Hospital as a result of an ATV accident.
Born October 11, 1936 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Robert S. and Martha Brookman Youngs. She was a 1955 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Dawn first was employed at the New York State Pattersonville Thruway Stop. Later she co-owned and operated the Husted Tavern on Locust Avenue in Amsterdam and the Lost Valley Grill in the Town of Florida until retiring in 1982.
She was a former member of the Eastern Star in Fultonville.
Dawn loved spending time with her grandchildren.
On May 4, 1974, she married Robert Husted who died April 26, 1992.
Survivors include a son, Donald F. Gardner and his wife Cathy of Stratford, New York; a sister, Patricia B. Hernigle of Fultonville, New York; two grandchildren, Justin Gardner of Stratford and L.C.P.L. Douglas Gardner of the U.S. Marine Corps Station in Iraq and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert A. Youngs.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Hagaman Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Stratford Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Route 29A, Stratford, NY 13470.
