Mr. Lachanski was an inspiration to all his students at Gloversville High School. I had the honor of being his student 10th grade Englishin the year of 1981. When I heard of his passing, my mom mailed me his obituary from the newspaper and I have been carrying it around with me ever since! He was a wonderful teacher; I will never forget that he would always make me dot my "i's" and "t's" on spelling tests or he would mark it wrong. He taught me that persistence, responsibility, and hard work are essential qualities for success in life. Also, through his teaching, he inspired me to become a high school English teacher as well. Everytime I face challenges, I sometimes find myself asking Mr. Lachanski for advice on what he would do in the situtation at hand. He was a special person and I am sure that he would want all of us to live life to its fullest. Happy Holidays and my sincere condolences to his entire family...I am sure that he is fishing, telling jokes, and teaching Shakespeare in heaven. God Bless you Mr. Lachanski and thank you for your dedication. It was a privledge and opportunity to have you as my English teacher! May you rest in peace.

Dear Lachanski Family,
Hard to believe that a year has passed. Tom was a great person to work with at the Post Office. No matter what, we ended every day with a laugh as we walked out to our cars. I really miss the fun and the talks we had. I know that he was very proud of each and every one of you. His memory will always be very much alive.
Best wishes,
Jerry Fryc

Marian, Jen, Greg, Pat & Family:
I was so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was a teacher of mine, and then became a great friend through the Gloversville Basketball Club.
Fr. Paul's sentiments at Tom's funeral, as well as the Eulogy described Tom perfectly - a gentleman through and through.
I'll miss his jokes and his smile.
The Broken Chain will link again, and One Sweet Day we'll all be together!
Take Care - Love and God Bless Always,

Marion, Jennifer, Greg, Patrick,
No words can express how sad I am for all of you. The death of someone so alive, fun-loving,and caring, as Tom is so very difficult. I will remember him for all his jokes, good-nature, and "pink flamingos" he provided for the card group. The Native American Indians say that so long as there is someone left on Earth to remember a loved one who has died, that loved one will be forever alive in the hearts of those left behind. Tom will be alive in your hearts forever. Hang on to each other and your friends for love and support. May God grant you comfort and peace.
