Obituary of Edmund R. Trumpick

Edmund R. Trumpick, 86, of DeGraff Street, passed away Wednesday morning at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, peacefully, after a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam where he resided his entire life, he was the son of Anthony and Barbora Damalakas Trumpickas. He celebrated his eighty-sixth birthday on August 5. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. During World War II, he served his country in the US Army as a Technician Fifth Grade. He saw combat in the Pacific Theater of Operations and was awarded the Service, Asiatic-Pacific and Victory Medals. In his earlier days, Ed worked for the American Locomotive Company. He retired after many years of service from the State of New York Canal System, working at the Tribes Hill Lock. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Casimir?s Roman Catholic Church where he served as an usher at one time. He was a member of the John J. Wyszomirski Post 701 American Legion and the former American Lithuanian Veterans and had volunteered with GAVAC for a number of years. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved to go camping, fishing and mushroom hunting. On October 21, 1950, he was united in marriage to the former Florence Mikolaitis at St. Casimir?s Church. In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves his children, Susan A. Trumpick of Glens Falls, and John Trumpick of Amsterdam; a niece, Barbara Weyl Late Dr. Tom Weyl; a nephew, Robert and his wife Barbara Kensell; grand niece, Kim and her husband Steve Lubin and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter, Patricia, his sister, Jennie Kensell and her husband Willard. Services are Saturday at 8:45 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Casimir?s Church with Fr. Stanley J. Swierzowski, celebrant. Interment will take place with military honors in St. Casimir?s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4pm to 7pm. Contributions may be made to St. Casimir?s Cemetery Fund or the Liberty Foundation all in care of the funeral home.
