Obituary of Dorothy M. Ferguson

Mrs. Dorothy M. Ferguson, age 91, of Gloversville, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville. She was born November 22, 1914 in Fish House, NY, the daughter of the late Clarence and Emma Edgerton Sleezer. Mrs. Ferguson was a member of Foothills United Methodist Church and its E.F.W. Class, the St. Monica Order of the Eastern Star No. 486 and served as Matron of the former the former Gloversville Chapter in 1958. Also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 58ers Club, Past Matrons Association of St. Monica, and Ivy League Rebekah Lodge No. 165, where she served as Noble Grand in 1948. She was District Deputy of Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer Rebekah District in 1953, and is a member of the Past Noble Grands Association. She was Most Excellent Chief of the former Pythian Lodge in 1942. She was a glove worker for Daniel C. Miller Glove Shop and Grandoe Glove Company, and also an inspector at the former MCA Record Company, retiring in 1979. Dorothy was married to Earl H. Ferguson on September 26, 1936, and they observed their 50th anniversary on September 26, 1986. Mr. Ferguson died in 1987. She is survived by her son, Howard E. Ferguson Judy of Gloversville; two granddaughters, Melissa Ferguson of Scranton, SC and Jennifer Ratajczak of Broadalbin; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her brother, Roy Sleezer. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm Saturday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with the Rev. Wayne E. Jones Sr. officiating. Interment will take place at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin. Memorial contributions may be made to Foothills United Methodist Church Building Fund, 17 Fremont St; Gloversville, NY 12078.
