Obituary of Ethel Hannis
Ethel A. Hannis, 77, of Mayfield, passed away at her home on Monday, August 21, 2006. She was born in Gloversville, on July 28, 1929. She graduated from Gloversville High School, and later, was employed by Fulton County as a receptionist for social services, and then, for Fulton County Nursing Services where she worked for 25 years, before retiring in 1990. On June 3, 1950, she married Floyd W. Hannis, and moved to Scotia. In 1961, they moved to Johnstown, and then, in 1973, to Mayfield. Ethel was a member of Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed outdoor sports and activities, especially camping with her family. Ethel is survived by her son, Daniel F. Debi Hannis of Mayfield, and by her two daughters, Diane Michael Pavlowski of Onsted, Michigan, and Dale Hegenbergen of Saratoga. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Adam, Nikalah, and Jon Hannis, Michelle Bowman and Sean Pavlowski; and her two great grandchildren, Lexi Joy Pavlowski and Madelyn Bowman. Ethel was predeceased by her mother Lena and by her stepfather, Gus Fleishman.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 1:00 pm at Mayfield Presbyterian Church, 22 N. Main Street, Mayfield, with The Reverend Bonnie Orth officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at Jeffords and Stewart Funeral Home, 85 West Main Street, Broadalbin,. Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery on Friday at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to: Mountain Valley Hospice or Mayfield Central Presbyterian Church.
