Obituary of Alfred Simeone

Mr. Alfred Simeone, Sr., 85 years old of Midline Road, died Sunday at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. Mr. Simeone was born April 21, 1921 in Amsterdam a son of Dominick and Philomena Napoli Simeone and was a life long resident of Amsterdam. He served with the National Guard during World War II. Mr. Simeone took a job in Idaho at the age of 16 with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was then employed by the former Colette Manufacturing Co. and the former Mohawk Carpet Mills. Mr. Simeone then accepted a position with Hussman Corp. in Gloversville as a die maker retiring in 1982. He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. He bowled in the former Perth Business League and greatly enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Simeone married the former Pearl Coppola on September 15, 1940 who survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Dominick Simeone and Alfred Simeone, Jr., both of Amsterdam; his two daughters, Rose Marie Mazurkiewicz of Avon, New York and Pearl Salonen of Holly, New York; his brothers, Stephen and Mario Simeone both of Amsterdam, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Simone was predeceased by his brother, Ferdinand Simeone. Funeral services will be held 8:15am Friday at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed at 9:15am by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Michael?s Roman Catholic Church. Burial is in St. Michael?s Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
