Obituary of Charles D. Lampkin
Charles D. Lampkin, 77, formerly of the Ft. Hunter Road, Town of Florida, passed away early Sunday morning at Park Hill Adult Home where he had been a resident.
Born on December 21, 1928 he was the son of the late Abram and Esther Cooper Lampkin. He was a lifelong area resident and a 1947 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Mr. Lampkin was employed by Niagara Mohawk for over 35 years. He worked in the maintenance department in Schenectady, as well as Amsterdam. He was also a member and elder of the First Reformed Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, the former Thelma Tallmadge whom he married, August 18, 1950; one son, Wayne Lampkin of Newington, CT; two daughters, Elaine Ploch of Cromwell, CT and Lorraine Earle and her husband Loren M. of Buffalo, NY; four grandchildren, Michael and Karen Ploch and Jacob and Kelsie Earle; a nephew, James Knack of Ghent, NY; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Knack, his brother, Richard ?Dick? Lampkin and a son in law, David Ploch.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 11a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Inurnment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Florida Volunteer Fire Department, 6282 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the First Reformed Church, Arch Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
