Obituary of William E. Richard

William E. Richard, 91, of Mayfield, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital. He was born June 1, 1915 in North Adams, MA, son of the late Elie and Alma Dumouchel Richard. Mr. Richard was educated in North Adams schools and operated Richards Grocery Store in North Adams until 1956, when he moved to Gloversville. He also operated a grocery store in Gloversville on N. Main St. for many years. He later began working in sales for John Morrell Meats, retiring in 1976.After retiring, he moved to be with his family in Cape Cod, Wyoming and back to Gloversville. After several years, he returned to Buzzards Bay in Cape Cod for some time before returning to Gloversville again. William was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years, especially in retirement. He was married November 16, 1936 to Laura St. Pierre Richard who pre-deceased him in 1998. Survivors include his children: Christine Richard of Riverton, Wyoming, Marylin Dr. Jonathan White of Norfolk, VA., Jeannette John Anderson of Buzzards Bay, MA, and Paul Teena Richard of Gloversville. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Richard was pre-deceased by a son; William E. Richard Jr. There are no services scheduled locally. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Cape Cod. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
