Obituary of Constance A. DiCaterino

Constance A. DiCaterino, 86, of Academy Street, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday morning at her home. Born in Easthampton, Mass., on August 12, 1920, she was the daughter of Jan and Anna Palubienski Traczyk. During World War II, she worked for a time at the General Electric Company while her husband served in the US Navy. A homemaker, Connie was a communicant of St. Mary?s Roman Catholic Church. In earlier years, she actively served as a Girl Scout and Brownie leader. Connie also was active with the PTA of the former St. Joseph?s School. She and her husband loved to travel and she was an avid Yankees fan. She loved family gatherings and was especially close to her grandchildren whom she lovingly cared for, as well as other neighborhood children. On September 1, 1940, she was united in marriage to Lewis J. DiCaterino. That union lasted for nearly sixty-six years until his recent passing on June 14, 2006. She leaves her children; a son, Lewis DiCaterino of Amsterdam; daughters, Beverly Moran and her husband Kevin of Corinth, Kathleen DiBlasi and her husband Joseph, and Ann DiCaterino and her husband John Dunne all of Amsterdam; four grandchildren, Joey and Lisa DiBlasi and John and Jessica Dunne and nieces and nephews. Her brother, Steve Traczyk and her sister, Helen Sturm also predeceased her. Her family will always remember her as their source of love and strength. Funeral services are Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary?s Church. Interment is in St. Stanislaus? Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Amsterdam Free Library, in care of the funeral home.
