Obituary of Charles J. Schuttig
Mr. Charles J. Schuttig, 87, formerly of Division Street, died Tuesday afternoon at the Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F.
Born on August 1, 1919 in Amsterdam, he was the son of the late Wenzel and Veronica Habla Schuttig. He was a lifelong area resident and attended St. Joseph?s school and Amsterdam schools.
Mr. Schuttig was employed for over 50 years for Eddy Brush in Amsterdam, retiring in 1992. He also served in the United States Army in WWII.
Mr. Schuttig was of the Roman Catholic faith, and a member of St. Joseph?s Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include his one daughter, Marion Zeberst of Galway; one sister, Clara Brumley of Amsterdam; a sister in law, Elizabeth Schuttig of Amsterdam; one granddaughter, Nicole Zeberst; a special niece, Bonnie Surento and her husband Sisto of Ft. Johnson and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Schuttig was predeceased by a daughter, Stephanie Schuttig; a sister, Lillian Soles; and four brothers, Louis, Frank, George and Raymond Schuttig.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, St. John Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. A calling hour will be held from 9 until 10. Interment will take place in St. Joseph?s Cemetery, Ft. Johnson with full military honors.
