Obituary of Effie Brown

Mrs. Effie Brown, 102, of Fonda, NY went to be with the Lord on October 4, 2006. Born on June 21, 1904 in New Bern, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Josephine Jackson and Joseph Robert Hargett. Having been baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit, she attended Greater Refuge Temple in New York where she was a faithful member and sang in the radio choir. She received her GED and, for many years worked as a hat trimmer. She will be remembered as a nurturing mother and grandmother. She was a woman of honor and dignity, and was a doer of the Word of God. She will be missed by all who knew her. She leaves to carry her legacy, her sister, Olivia Williams of NY, New York; her three grandchildren, Kim Fitzgerald and his wife Elaine of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert Brown and his wife Lucinda of Amsterdam, NY, and Edward Brown and his wife Wanda of Glen, NY; 18 great grandchildren; a special nephew, Freddie Hargett of Gloversville, NY; and countless relatives and friends. Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her husband, Sandy; her daughter Ethel; and son Sandy Jr. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 12:00 noon at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville, NY with Elder Horace Michaels officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11 until noon, Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda.
