Obituary of Richard Yogi Folmsbee
Richard ?Yogi? Folmsbee, 75, of Barclay Street, Canajoharie, died Monday afternoon at the Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville.
Born on August 11, 1931 in Flat Creek, he was the son of the late Everett and Margaret Hall Folmsbee. He was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Canajoharie High School. He also served our country from 1950 until 1954 in the United States Air Force.
Yogi was employed by the United States Postal Service in Canajoharie for over 30 years. He also was the proprietor of the Boulevard Tavern and was employed at various establishments as a bartender.
Committed to his community, he also served as a member of the Canajoharie Fire Department and was a member of the Eagles and the Moose. Yogi also was a faithful member of the St. Johnsville Lodge # 611 F&AM where he was a 32nd degree mason.
He was predeceased by his wife Ida Yacobucci Folmsbee on May 21, 2002.
Survivors include his four children, Bonnie Taylor and her husband Herbert of Stillwater, NY, Deborah Buck and her husband Jack Smitka of Delmar, New York, Robert Buck and his wife Deborah of Canajoharie, New York and John Buck and his wife Cathy of Canajoharie, New York; one sister, Linda Borst and her husband David of Syracuse, New York; two brothers, Wayne Folmsbee and his wife Dale of Canajoharie, New York and Frank Folmsbee and his wife Elaine of Red Creek, New York; 11 grandchildren: Richard Gaughan, Melissa Zdonick, Jason Gaughan, Courtney Buck, Morgan Buck, Kagan Buck, Sarah Dembroski, Esther Perraud, Ethan Buck, Erica and Jillian Smitka; six great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30am at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda with full military honors. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5 until 8 this evening Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, in care of the funeral home.
