Obituary of Barbara Jean Greer
Barbara Jean Greer died of cancer October 17, 2006 at Providence Alaska Medical Center.
Mrs. Greer was born August 17, 1936 in Amsterdam, New York and was a former secretary at General Electric Co. in Schenectady, New York. She moved to Alaska in 1976.
Mrs. Greer was a life member of the Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward and member of Waheed Court #81, L.O.S. the Royal Order of the Cucumbers Court #1, Women of the Moose Chapter #139 and AmVets Post #2.
Her husband said, ?Barbara lived life with extraordinary strength and courage and taught all who knew her how to live with grace and compassion, even through her long and difficult struggle with cancer. Everyone who knew was touched by her spirit, which is now free of pain and remains with us always.?
Mrs. Greer traveled around the world with her husband during his construct projects for major U.S. companies. Gardening was her hobby and she became a master gardener and had been in Alaska Gardening magazine.
Mrs. Greer was preceded in death by her father, Mr. William Schultz. She is survived by her husband of over 39 years, Richard Greer of Anchorage; her mother, Mrs. Olga Schultz of Amsterdam, New York; and cousin, Mr. George Albert.
Interment will be at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Amsterdam, New York.
