Obituary of Helena Shirley Stansel

Helena Shirley Stansel, formerly of Canajoharie, passed away early Sunday morning at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. Born on April 3, 1922 in Rural Grove, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Ernestine Alkinburg Caswell. Mrs. Stansel was employed by Beech-But Nutrition, working in the Gum department for over 25 years. She was also a member of the Canajoharie Reformed Church. She was married to Olin Stansel who passed away on January 2, 1971. She was also predeceased by her brother, Russell Caswell and a sister, Pauline Kilmartin. Survivors include her sister, Geraldine Maring of Ft. Plain, NY; four nephews, Floyd Kilmartin and his wife Susan of Ft. Plain, NY, Kelly Kilmartin and his Karen of Liverpool, NY, Shawn Kilmartin and his wife Tania, and son Ethan of Ft. Plain, NY, Kenneth Maring and his wife Norma of Ft. Plain, NY; three nieces, Carol Richardson and her husband David of Wellesley Island, NY, Connie Bradford and her husband Richard of Mahopac, NY, and Teena Gray and her husband Larry of Palatine Bridge, NY; and an Aunt, Viola Alkinburg of Fultonville, NY Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 10 until 11 Wednesday at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. A graveside service will then follow at Evergreen cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one?s choice.
