Obituary of Martha Humphries Testa

Martha Humphries Testa, 52, of Brant, New York formerly a resident of Amsterdam, passed away unexpectedly Monday in Amsterdam, New York. Born in Schenectady, New York on February 9, 1954 a daughter of Donald Humphries and Josephine Sullivan-Streeter. Martha grew up in the Amsterdam area and attended Amsterdam Schools. She was a 1972 graduate of Amsterdam High School and received a degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, New York. Marti had a very full life, starting with her two children Janelle and TJ. She was a successful businesswoman, having been honored as the Businesswoman of the Year for the State of New York in 1990. With a strong passion and wonderful talent for art, she later attended Buffalo State University Art School. She served an internship in the state of Virginia to help with Art Conservation, later becoming a self-employed artist, which continued to the present day. Martha brought a very passionate spirit to this world with enormous drive to make life better. One of her great passions was horses. She loved her children deeply and will be sorely missed by all who loved her in return. Survivors include one son, Thomas J. Testa II of Green Island, New York; one daughter, Janelle L. Ballard of Wynantskill, New York; her parents, Donald Humphries of Brant, New York and Josephine Sullivan-Streeter of Mims, Florida; two brothers, Brent and Donald Humphries; three sisters, Leslie Kolakowski, Bonnie Hoffman and Noelle Maertens; and three grandchildren, Anthony Ballard, Madison Bulan and Emma Katherine Testa. Aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Martha was recently engaged to Michele T. Aldi of Amsterdam who also survives. She was raised in the Episcopal Church having attended St. Ann?s Church in Amsterdam. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday November 8, 2006 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Committal services and interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
