Obituary of Ida May Finch
Ida May Finch, 103 years old, passed away Thursday morning November 9, 2006 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility in Gloversville, New York where she has resided in the past few years.
Born in the Town of Providence, New York on May 3, 1903 a daughter of Asa F. and Frances Shaw Potter. She was a resident of Ft. Johnson, New York for over 40 years and also lived for a time in Fonda, and Amsterdam, New York.
Mrs. Finch was a homemaker all of her life. She volunteered for the American Red Cross during World War II. She was a member of the former Grace Methodist Church in Fort Johnson and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of the former Emmanuel Presbyterian Church on Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam before it became the United Presbyterian Church on Church Street, also in Amsterdam. She also was a member of the Hagaman Seniors at one time.
She married John S. Finch on October 15, 1922; he passed away in April of 1978.
She is survived by nephews, Loren W. Montanye of Gloversville and John A. Miller and his wife Caroline of Galway, New York. Other nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 2:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Roland "Mac" McDonald presiding. Interment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 2:00PM. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral beginning at 1:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church, Market Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
