Obituary of Anita Van Heusen
Anita Van Heusen, 86, of Florida Avenue, Amsterdam, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at her home.
Born in Amsterdam, New York on May 28, 1920, Mrs. Van Heusen was the daughter of Edward and Anna Ehmer. She was a life long resident of Amsterdam and was a graduate of Amsterdam H.S. class of 1938. She attended Art Classes at Boston University and Syracuse University, where she studied under Norman Rockwell.
Mrs. Van Heusen was a homemaker for most of her life, an avid portrait and landscape artist, gardener, worked for a time as a seamstress in Amsterdam mills and enjoyed making clothing for the family.
Mrs. Van Heusen was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Lewis B. Van Heusen, who passed away on April 21, 2003.
She is survived by one son, Lawrence M. Van Heusen and his wife Jackie of Rexford, New York; one daughter, Sharon A. Eikenberry and her husband Robert of Atlanta, Georgia and two grandchildren, Michael L. Van Heusen and Amber M. Van Heusen of Rexford, New York. Mrs. Van Heusen is predeceased by a brother Edward Ehmer of Amsterdam and a sister Florence Bouchard of Northville, New York and is survived by nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at 12:00 Noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with Father Pascal Iannotti presiding. Interment of cremated remains will take place on Monday at 12:30 PM at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 3, 2006 beginning at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 267 Market Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
