Obituary of G. William Flint

G. William Flint, 88, of State Hwy 334, Fonda, passed away Tuesday morning November 28, 2006 at his home with his family at his side. Born in Hallsville, New York on March 26, 1918 a son of George B. and Iva Diefendorf Flint. He graduated from Vanhornsville School and later went on to graduate from Albany Business College. Mr. Flint served in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the 45th Infantry Division. He served as a medic in the European Theatre. After the war he was employed as a Union Carpenter for the Carpenters Local #120. He worked in Herkimer and Albany area for 34 years before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the VFW Post 942 in Fonda. He also attended the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church. He was an avid sports fan who loved the New York Yankees. He also enjoyed playing pinochle, shuffleboard, bowling and golf. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife, Ethel L. Harvey Galusha-Flint, whom he married on April 2, 1966; two sons, Gary and David Flint of Azle, Texas; one daughter, Linda Aboud of Burke, Virginia; a step-son, Robert Galusha and his wife Helen of Fonda, New York; four grandchildren, Dale, Michael, Rene and Jennifer; one step-grandson, Robert William Galusha and his wife Gayle of Fultonville, New York and two step great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Justin Galusha. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mr. Flint was pre-deceased by a step-grandson, Brian Galusha on July 25, 2004, a brother, Birlyn Flint, and two sisters, Myrtle Dillenbeck and Anna E. Flint. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2006 at 2:00PM at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville with the Rev. Nancy Pullen presiding. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats, Fonda, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday prior to the funeral from 1:00 to 2:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church, or to the Mountain Valley Hospice.
