Obituary of Kathleen B. Kennedy

Kathleen B. Kennedy, 92, formerly of Guy Park Avenue, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility with her family at her side. Born in the Town of Amsterdam on October 31, 1914, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence Yager O?Conner. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of the former Amsterdam School of Commerce. She was employed on a part time basis with the Montgomery County Board of Elections for a number of years, and served as the manager of Amsterdam Memorial Hospital?s Gift Shop for ten years before she retired in 1990. She was a communicant of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman. In 1934 she was united in marriage to John H. Kennedy who predeceased her in 1974. Also, her son in law, Ronald Ott, her sister, Gladys Albertin and her dear companion Kenneth Merry all predeceased her. Kathleen leaves her daughter, Mary Lou Ott of Amsterdam; a sister, Marion Gooley of Fort Plain; grandchildren, Sherry Ott of Mechanicville and Kenneth Ott of the Amsterdam area; great grandchildren: Katherine, Robert, Bryan and Ronald Siemann, Katie and Alexandria Ott; and a fifth generation with the recent birth of her great-great grandson, Trevor Siemann. Nieces and nephews also survive. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial, which will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:00 am at St. Stephen?s Church, Hagaman with Fr. Ronald Matulewicz, celebrant. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. At Mrs. Kennedy?s request, calling hours are private at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Contributions may be made to the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in care of the funeral home office. Kathleen?s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at the Wilkinson Center for their care, and to Frs. Ronald Matulewicz and Lawrence Decker for their prayers and visits.
