Obituary of Andrew R. Young

Andrew R. Young, 94, formerly of Vrooman Avenue passed away Tuesday morning at the Montgomery Meadows after being a resident for 3 1/2 years. Born December 2, 1912 in Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of the late Isabel and George Young. He moved to Amsterdam in 1916. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Andrew was employed as a Credit Union Manager for the Mohasco Industries in Amsterdam for a number of years until retiring in 1977. He was a member of Amsterdam Lodge # 84, F&AM and the Amsterdam Presbyterian Church. Andrew loved to golf and bowl. On December 2, 1932 he married the former Edna Czarnowski who died November 11, 2000. He is survived by three nephews, Robert Arthurs and his wife Patricia of Amsterdam, Donald Arthurs and his wife Jo Ann of Rhode Island and David Tollner and his wife Betty of Amsterdam, a niece, Jeanette Chase of Amsterdam and several cousins. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam with Military Honors. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held Wednesday at 6 pm at the funeral home.
