Obituary of Elsie M. Hatch
Mrs. Elsie M. Hatch, 85, formerly of Gloversville, died December 29, 2006 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home. Mrs. Hatch was born in Fort Covington, NY on July 30, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Frances M. Howard McNair.
Mrs. Hatch was a 1940 graduate of Fort Covington High School and a 1944 graduate of Potsdam State Teachers College, earning a BS degree in education.
Elsie taught in the Middleton Springs school district in Vermont until her retirement in 1960 when her family moved to Gloversville and was a homemaker
A one time active member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Elsie loved country music and cooking. She was especially fond of her cats and dogs. She is survived by her husband, Paul M. Hatch, of Ft. Collins, Colorado whom she married August 21, 1948. She is also survived by a daughter, Paula Ted Shepard of Ft. Collins, Colorado and two sons; Peter Hatch of Gloversville and John Hatch of Amsterdam. Elsie is additionally survived by a grandchild Zachary Paul Hatch, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Bidwell, of Massena, NY.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church. A memorial visitation will be held Friday, July 27, 2007 from 4-6 pm at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street.
Urn burial will take place in St. Raphael Cemetery, Poultney, Vermont at 1 pm on Monday, July 30, 2007. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to the James Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078.
