My great-grandfather is my best friend. He always has been and he always will be.
Every time I would walk down the hallway to his room it would already make me feel good about seeing him because it would make him feel good. But when I would walk through his door and see him sleeping in his chair with his teeth sideways and the t.v. blaring, I could never help but laugh. I would always try to wake him up by tickling his feet or nose. He was so happy to see us all the time. It was always so hard for me to leave.
I've heard many stories about him with the nurses and they would take squirt guns and shoot each other with them. That's just like Grandpa.
Gramps was always such a happy person and he would make other people happy too. Not too long ago he started to say Oo La La. I don't know why but it would make me laugh.
The last day I saw him was on Christmas day and I will never forget it because before we left he said to me "I love you sweatheart. Your my Little Princess."
I love him very much and I wish he were here but I know he's always here to talk to and he's always in my heart.

To Dave and the whole Hawker Family,
I\\\'d like to pass along my and my wife Nikki\\\'s condolences along with the same from the rest of my family to yours. Though I didn\\\'t know your father too well, I remember him from his bus driving days as a very nice man along with stories from my parents, Van & Josephine, of how nice he and you all were years ago when they lived next door to you and how nice you boys were to my sisters when they were young they\\\'re in their 50\\\'s now.
Again, our hearts go out to you at this trying time and may the memories of your dad lift you.

I was probably the first of many Hentnik children to be transported rain, snow or shine to the Amsterdam schools from the Cranesville area. There were many Hentniks to follow and \\\"mister Hawker\\\" hauled them all. Even though I graduated in 1972, mr Hawker would always remember me by name and greet me with \\\"hello Steven\\\" even many years later. He was more than just our bus driver , he was our friend and will sincerely be missed. God Bless him and his family and may he be bussing the children in heaven. Steve

To The Hawker Family,
I am sorry for your loss. Mr. Hawker was the best bus driver that Truax School ever had. The long ride through Cranesville to get home was never dull. Singing songs and plenty of laughter made the ride enjoyable every day. He will always be part of my childhood.

I was so deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your dad. I met your dad through my Uncle Pete DiCaprio. What a wonderful man. Your dad meant so much to me and my family. When we would go visit Uncle Pete at the Wilkinson Center, our children, Morgan 7 yrs. old, and CJ 3 yrs. old would say, mommy, can we go see Mr. Hawker? and we did. Morgan and CJ sure loved all the cool toys he had in his room, but most of all we loved seeing Mr. Hawker. May he rest in peace.
Love, Donna, Craig, Morgan, & CJ Durinick Cappies
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, Id walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
