Obituary of Shirley J. Skinner
Shirley J. Skinner, 81, of Mount Loretto Nursing Home formerly of Glen Avenue, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2006 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Amsterdam on February 15, 1925 daughter of the late Maurice and Ruth Monroe Brooker.
Shirley worked as a secretary for the City of Amsterdam for several years. She enjoyed bowling, traveling with her son Rick, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially loved her loyal dog ?Tripper?, who was with Shirley for 19 years.
Shirley is survived by her step-mother, Mary Brooker of Broadalbin, two sons, Bruce Skinner of Gloversville, and Rick Sally Skinner of Amsterdam, two daughters, Sandy Tony Tucciarone and Susan David McBurnie all of Tribes Hill, a brother, Gary Chris Brooker of Broadalbin and a sister, Leila Lajeunesse of Willimantic, CT. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by a brother, Sheldon Brooker.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday evening at 6:00 PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. John Califano presiding. Burial of her cremated remains will take place in spring at the Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Thursday from 5 to 6 PM at the funeral home.
