Obituary of William C. McClumpha
William C. McClumpha, 88, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2007, at the Boynton Beach Florida Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he had resided for the past five years. He moved from Glenville, New York to Florida in 1981.
Born December 12, 1918 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of Myron C. and Elizabeth Kelly McClumpha. He was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School class of 1937.
William served as a Sergeant with the 490th Bomb Group of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was stationed in England for over two years.
Employed by Mohasco Corporation for 34 years, he retired as Assistant Advertising
Director in 1979. He was a member and Past Master in 1953 of the former Welcome Lodge #829, F & A M, a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Amsterdam, New York and a member of Living Word Lutheran Church in Lantana, Florida. He belonged to the Cypress Creek Country Club, Boynton Beach, Florida.
On January 5, 1943, he married the former Emily Harris. He is survived by his wife, two sisters, June M. Shartrand and Ruth E. Peryea of Amsterdam, New York, one niece and five nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2007, 11:00 am at the Betz, Rossi and Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, New York with Rev. John Califano officiating.
Burial of his cremated remains will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam, New York. Calling hours will be held that morning from 10 to 11 am at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Amsterdam, New York, or to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida, 33407.
