Obituary of Charles J. Klempa

Mr. Charles J. Klempa, 92, of 65 Orchard Street died Saturday morning, January 13, 2007 at the Glens Falls Hospital. He was born July 25, 1914 in Gloversville, New York the oldest son of Paul and Sabina Zach Klempa. He was a life long resident of the city. Chuck attended Gloversville Public School. He enlisted in the U S Navy in 1941 and served aboard a destroyer escort in the Atlantic and South America during World War II. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. Chuck worked in the glove industry for many years, as the glove industry declined; he became an employee of General Electric in Schenectady, New York. Mr. Klempa was a devout Roman Catholic and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville, where he was a former member of the Holy Name Society. Mr. Klempa was also a life member of the VFW Post # 2077 in Gloversville. He was pre-deceased by his parents, his wife, Josephine C. Tramontana Klempa whom he married December 1, 1945. He was also pre-deceased by two sisters; Viola Bisnett and Dorothy Haseck and a brother, Ernest Klempa. He is survived by one son, Stephen J. Klempa and his wife Lisa of Queensbury, New York, one daughter, Charlene J. Marzeski and her husband Thomas of Chittenango, New York, five grandchildren: Bryan T. Klempa and his wife Carolyn of Sarasota, Florida, Matthew D. Klempa of Cary, North Carolina, Kristin Dunn and her husband Adam of Chittenango, New York, Kathryn Marzeski and Allison Marzeski of Chittenango, New York; a sister, Virginia Gifford and her husband, Ray, and nieces and nephews. A prayer service will be held 12:15 Wednesday at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville, New York and at 1 pm a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Hearty Church, Gloversville, New York. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Anthony?s Cemetery, Johnstown, New York in the spring.
