Obituary of LeRoy A. Tesiero

LeRoy A. Tesiero, 89, of Front Street, Canajoharie, passed away on Sunday afternoon with his loving family at his side. Born June 13, 1917 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of the late James and Christine Efland Tesiero. He was a life long area resident. LeRoy was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School and the Albany College of Pharmacy. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII where he served at the rank of Pharmacist 1st Class in the Pacific Theatre. He received an Asiatic-Pacific ribbon and star. LeRoy was first employed as a Pharmacist for Whalen?s Pharmacy in Schenectady. He later worked at Tesiero?s Pharmacy in Amsterdam until retiring in 1980. He was passionate about golf, enjoyed downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and traveling. LeRoy also took great pleasure in his Siamese cat, Ching-Ching. LeRoy was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam. In December of 1943 he married the former Evelyn Schubert who died January 20, 2006. Survivors include a son, Keith L. Tesiero Sr. and his wife Lorie of Amsterdam; a daughter, Joyce M. Hildreth and her husband Jon Paul of Amsterdam; a long time companion for many years, Jean Nestle of Canajoharie; a brother, Donald Tesiero and his wife Janet of Amsterdam; seven grandchildren, Jon Hildreth and his wife Kim, Anita Filbeck and her husband Arthur, Roger Hildreth and his wife Christina, Elizabeth Hildreth, Joseph Hildreth, Keith Tesiero, Jr. and Tera Espada; nine great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:15 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:15 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam with the Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Fort Johnson with Military Honors. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in LeRoy?s memory to the St. Michael?s Memorial Church Fund, PO Box 699, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
