Obituary of Duncan E. Bond
Duncan E. Bond, 86, of State Highway 5S, Town of Florida, New York, passed away Monday morning, January 22, 2007 at the E.L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in the Town of Duanesburg, NY on April 2, 1920 he was a son of Eugene and Hattie McMillan Bond. He was a graduate of Duanesburg High School. Mr. Bond was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a light tank crewman serving in Central Europe, Northern France and the Rhineland.
Following the war, Mr. Bond worked for over 41 years at General Electric in Schenectady as a winder before retiring in 1982. He was of the Protestant faith. Mr. Bond enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping and was a great cook. He was a fun loving person and was fun to be with.
He married Florence McMahon Bond on July 4, 1943. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, John M. Bond and his wife Sandra of Fonda and Robert J. Bond of Mayfield; one brother, Ralph Bond of Glen, NY and one sister, Sara Dziamba of Rotterdam, NY.
Seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are also private. Interment will be in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ft. Hunter Volunteer Fire Department c/o the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St. Fultonville, NY 12072.
