Obituary of Ida Ardizzone Clemente
Mrs. Ida Ardizzone Clemente, 98, of Gloversville, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Gloversville on September 28, 1908, daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Pagano Ardizzone. Mrs. Clemente was educated in Gloversville schools and employed early in her life as a meat cutter at the former Grand Union Markets. Ida and her late husband, Albert A. Clemente, began Alida?s Appliance Store in Gloversville in 1953. They were later joined by son Paul A. Parillo, Sr. and operated the business until closing in 2003.A very social and enthusiastic person, Ida enjoyed gathering with family and friends at their summer home on the Great Sacandaga Lake, and also at their home in S. Lido Beach, FL where they wintered for many years. Although she enjoyed extensive travel, she always made time to volunteer and be a strong part of her community. Ida was a member of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church and the Women?s Society of the church, as well as a long time member of the Nathan Littauer Hospital Auxiliary. Upon her husband?s death in 2004, Ida assumed partial ownership of the Holiday Inn in Johnstown, which her husband had been a founding partner of.
She is survived by her son, Paul A. Angie Parillo, Sr. of Gloversville, her daughter; Dr. Patricia Parillo Covey of Ft. Edward, NY, eight grandchildren: Albert Theresa Parillo of Gloversville, Linda Michael Lizio of Johnstown, Coreen Robert Perna of Niskayuna, Paul Elizabeth Parillo, Jr. of Lawrenceville, GA., Anthony Flora Covey of Clifton Park, Kristofer Covey of Ft. Edward and Carla Aragon and Alan Harris both of Atlanta, GA.. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren: Gregory and Scott Parillo, Robert Tricia Perna, Jr., Alyssa and David Perna, Micholyn and Gregory Lizio, Vanessa and Antonio Parillo, and Katlin Aragon. Mrs. Clemente was pre-deceased by her husband Albert A. Clemente whom she married June 18, 1950, a daughter; Kathryn Harris, a sister Elena Hyde and her brothers; Salvatore, Stephen and William Ardizzone.
A prayer service will be held 9:15 am Friday from the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville and at 10 am a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Gloversville with Reverend Donald Czelusniak, Pastor, as celebrant. The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 pm and from 6-8 pm. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown in the spring.
