Obituary of Duilio Florimo

Duilio Florimo, 82, of Academy Street, passed away Sunday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility. His loving family was at his side. Born in Molochio, Reggio Calabria, Italy on June 8, 1924, he was the son of Joseph and Teresa Luci Florimo and moved to Amsterdam as a child with his family. He worked for a time for Mohasco and the former Ritter Chemical Company before beginning a long career as maintenance supervisor for the Horigan Law Firm. A hardworking man, he delighted in his family and was an avid sports fan. Duilio was a devout member of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He was predeceased by his brothers, Carmen and Robert Florimo. He will be missed by his devoted sister, Ermenia Florimo and sister in law Dorothy Florimo both of Amsterdam; nieces; Theresa A. Konieczka and her fiancé Peter Young, Roberta and her husband Rick Hancock; nephew; Robert Florimo and his wife Nancy; grandnieces; Michelle Ward and her husband Jamie; Theresa Droszd and her husband Brett; Sierra Hancock, Angela and Samantha Florimo; great grandniece and nephew; Bailey and Joseph Ward; cousins; Rosemarie Brown and Vito and Diane Florimo. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:15 am at St. Michael The Archangel Church by Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, pastor. Relatives and friends are invited and may call this evening from 4-7 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment is in St. Michael?s Cemetery.
