Obituary of Arthur D. Playford

Arthur D. Playford , 77, of Harvard Place, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening at the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home. Born in Amsterdam, New York on January 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Porath Playford. He was educated locally. Arthur was employed as an office equipment installer for Western Electric Co. in Albany, now known as Lucent Company, until he retired in 1986. Art spent his leisure time fishing , and in his vegetable garden and watching hockey on TV. He also loved to be in the company of family, especially his grandchildren and the many happy times they all spent at Wildwood NJ. He was of the Protestant faith. During the Korean War, Art served with the US Army and was honorably discharged on January 13, 1954. On July 19, 1952 he was united in marriage to the former Joan Krokenberger. She passed away this past May 11th . He was also predeceased by his brother, Walter Playford in 2006. His loving family includes his daughters; Debra Frame and her husband Donald Jr. of Clifton Park, and Donna Mochrie and her husband Steve Jr. of Amsterdam; a son; Arthur Playford Jr. and his wife Rosalie of Cranesville; grandchildren; David and Donald Frame III, Darryl and Brooke Playford and Theresa Intelisano; his brother, James Playford of Syracuse; a sister in law Marian Playford, Amsterdam ; nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Friday at 2:00 pm at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue. Interment is in Fairview Cemetery. A calling period will precede the service from noon until 2pm Friday at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the Mt. Loretto Nursing Home, or to St. Luke?s Evangelical Lutheran Church, both in care of the funeral home office.
