Obituary of Irene G. Wilcox

Irene G. Wilcox, 79, of the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at the Saratoga Hospital after being a patient for five days. Born November 4, 1927 in Amsterdam, New York, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Bazan Pikul. She lived most of her life in Amsterdam until moving to Malta in 1983 and later moved to Saratoga Springs. Irene was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam. As a secretary for General Electric Company in Schenectady she was employed for a number of years until retiring in the late sixties. Irene was an associate of the Friendship House in Saratoga Springs. She was a former parishioner of St. Stephen?s Roman Catholic Church in Hagaman, NY. She enjoyed crocheting and working with ceramics. In August of 1946 she married Wallace E. Wilcox who died January 13, 1970. Survivors include two sons, Gordon F. Wilcox of Bangkok, Thailand and Gerald P. Wilcox, Sr. of Saratoga Springs; a brother, Raymond Pikul of Amsterdam; a sister, Henrietta Powell of Bath, NY; a grandson, Gerald P. Wilcox, Jr.; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday at St. Stephen?s Church, 46 North Pawling Street, Hagaman, NY with the Rev. Ronald Matulewicz as celebrant. Burial will take place in spring at St. Stephen?s Cemetery. Calling hours are private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Irene?s memory to the Wesley Health Care Center, 133 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, New York 12866. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam.
