Obituary of William B. Murphy

Mr. William B. Murphy Sr; age 87, formerly of Gloversville, died Sunday, February 18, 2007 at Marchand Manor Adult Home in Sharon Springs, NY. He was born October 7, 1919 in Gloversville, the son of the late Timothy and Lula Politch Murphy. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1944 to 1946. As a machinist, he was employed by General Electric Company in Schenectady for 11 years, and by The G.A.F. Materials Corporation in Rensselaer for 16 years. Mr. Murphy was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include two children, William B. Murphy, Jr. of Waterford and Suzanne D. Bulger of Gloversville; a brother, Timothy Murphy; three grandchildren, Laurie Polk, Shawn Bulger and William Bulger; seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gail Harvey. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1 to 2 pm Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A private Prayer Service will take place at the convenience of the family with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
