Obituary of Sylvester Blaszkiewicz

Mr. Sylvester Blaszkiewicz, 84, of Groff Road, Palatine Bridge, NY died suddenly Tuesday, February 20, 2007. Born on December 31, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY he was the son of the late Feliz and Josephine Blaszkiewicz. He was a lifelong area resident and a graduate of Dewey High School. Mr. Blaszkiewicz worked for Entemanns?s Cakes & Bakery in Bayshore, NY before his retirement. In 1987 he and his wife moved to Palatine Bridge, New York where they enjoyed their retirement. In January of 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps, and served until his honorable discharge in January of 1946. Mr. Blaszkiewicz was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Stanick and Stella Blaszkiewicz; and his three brothers, Felix, Thomas and Leo Blaszkiewicz. Survivors include his wife, the former Josephine Junkind; two sons, Alan Josephine Blaszkiewicz of east Islip, NY and Sylvester Becky Blaszkiewicz of Virginia; one sister Irene Czarnecki of Riverhead, NY; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a later date. Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
