Obituary of Dawn R. Pettit

Dawn R. Pettit, 81, of West Main Street, Canajoharie, passed away Wednesday afternoon at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born on May 2, 1925 in Saratoga Springs, NY she was raised by her father and step mother, David and Rose Davis. She has been an area resident for many years, and was a graduate of Columbia High School. Mrs. Pettit was a self employed housekeeper and homemaker for many years. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by a brother and a sister. Her loving family includes her husband, Willard Pettit whom she married on May 5, 1958; her children, Vernon Benedict and his wife Jean of Castleton on the Hudson, NY, James Benedict and his wife Shirley of TN, Jean Siebenaler and her husband Robert of Lewiston, MN, Donald Pettit of Albany, NY, James Pettit and his wife Robin of Ft. Plain, NY; a special niece, Barbara Homs and her husband Pepe of Amsterdam, NY, a brother in law, Frank Pettit of Canajoharie; her special canine companion, Princess; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 10a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Interment will take place in the spring at Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 2 until 5 Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
