Obituary of Josephine C. Motyl
Josephine C. Motyl 74, of Pawling Street, Hagaman, passed away Thursday afternoon at St. Peter?s Hospital in Albany after a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Amsterdam on April 13, 1932, she was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Michalowski Mazur. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School Class of 1950. After a brief employment at Mohasco, Mrs. Motyl worked for thirty years at the General Electric Company?s Data Processing Division before her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus? Roman Catholic Church and a member of it?s Rosary Society. Jo was also a member of the Cranesville Country Cousins Seniors and the Community Seniors.
She was the center of her family, and loved to travel. She and her husband enjoyed a special cruise the entire family took to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 2004.
She leaves her beloved husband, Leo J. Motyl whom she married on May 15, 1954; her children; Ronald J. and his wife Patricia Motyl of Amsterdam; Susan L. and her husband Mark Gutowski of Fort Johnson; Carol M. and her husband Michael Prevost of Lake Placid; and Jean M. and her husband Robert Miller of Oneonta; Jo was a special ?Babci? to Daniel wife Kristen, Michael, Karen and Rebecca Motyl; Alexander, Katherine, Jonathon and Abigail Miller; and Great Babci to Tayler, Justin and Nicole Motyl; her brothers; Leonard Mazur of Amsterdam and John Mazur of Alexandria, VA.; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Louis, Stanley and Henry Mazur.
Services are Monday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by a Funeral Mass which will be celebrated by Fr. David Mickiewicz at 9:30 am at St. Stanislaus? Church. Interment is in St. Stanislaus? Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5 pm at the funeral home, where the Rosary Society will gather at 1:30 pm the recite the Rosary. Contributions may be made in Jo?s memory to St. Stanislaus? Church in care of the funeral home.
