Obituary of Mary LaBate
Mary LaBate, 91, formerly of 276 East Main St, Amsterdam, passed away Saturday March 10, 2007 at the Park Hill Adult Home in Amsterdam where she had been a resident for two years. Born in Amsterdam, NY on June 12, 1915 a daughter of Carmen and Marion Bono Cassone. She was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and was a graduate of Amsterdam schools. Mrs. LaBate worked for over 50 years as a machine operator at the former Breier Co. in Amsterdam before retiring from there. She was a parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church and was very active in the church for many years. Mary enjoyed being with her family and friends especially at her summer home. She married Anthony LaBate on June 2, 1935 he passed away on December 18, 1999. Survivor?s include, one daughter, JoAnn Spagnola and her companion Charles Caruso of Amsterdam. Three grandchildren, Renee Nasadoski , Richard Kim Spagnola, and Gary Kathie Spagnola. Six great-grandchildren, Brian Nasadoski Jr., Matthew Nasadoski, Mahgan and Derek Spagnola, Samantha and Allison Spagnola. Her in-laws, Sarah Jim Iannotti, Pauline LaBate and Frank Jean LaBate. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Mrs. LaBate was pre-deceased by her son-in-law Richard ?Dick? Spagnola on September 2, 1999. She was also pre-deceased by two brothers, Rocco and Frank Cassone and three sisters, Monta Cassone, Josie Neri and Angie DelCostello. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 13, 2007 at 10:15A.M. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove St. Amsterdam with Father Pascal Iannotti as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday March 12, 2007 from 4:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. at the funeral home.
