Obituary of Roger C. Betler
Mr. Roger C. Betler, 63 of Mayfield, died Thursday at his residence after being stricken. He was born June 14, 1943 in Gloversville, son of the late Roy C. and Dorothy B. McClary Betler. He was educated in Mayfield schools and enjoyed both baseball and football. He had been employed earlier in his life by the Village of Mayfield and also as a sider in the leather industry. Most of his life was devoted to construction and he had been employed by the former Anchor Builders which became Better Homes. Roger was a long time New York Yankee fan and enjoyed racing at Fonda Speedway. He was a member of the Mayfield Presbyterian Church where he also served as Elder.
He is survived by his wife Janet Leach Betler of Mayfield whom he married April 6, 1974. Roger leaves three daughters; Ruth Serafin of Oneonta, Connie Whitbeck of Johnstown and Stacey Betler of Ephratah. He is also survived by three sisters; Diana Darling and Sally Johnson both of Gloversville, and Linda Walker of Florida Additional survivors include his grandchildren; Richard and Elizabeth Serafin, Bailey and Alyssa Whitbeck and Michael Parry III, as well as nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Roger was predeceased by a brother, Gary R Betler, Sr.
Funeral services will be conducted 4 pm Sunday from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Reverend Bonnie Orth officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 pm prior to the service. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery in the spring.
