Obituary of Alice E. Conyne
Mrs. Alice E. Hibbard Conyne, age 81, formerly of Mayfield, died Monday, April 2, 2007 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a brief illness. She had resided at the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown for the past five years.
She was born on February 2, 1926 in Middlefield, NY, the daughter of the late James and Esther Dryer Hibbard. She was educated in Cherry Valley schools, and lived most of her life in the Mayfield area. She was employed by Johnstown Knitting Company for many years.
Alice was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville. She enjoyed participating in a bowling league in the past, and played BINGO at various locations. When she lived at Kingsboro Towers in Gloversville, she ran the BINGO program there. She was a member of the Gloversville Women of the Moose #351, and was a very proud winner of one of it?s horseshoe tournaments. She loved to play cards, especially Rummy. Alice loved her grandchildren dearly. Most importantly, Alice?s smile was her personality.
She was married on October 12, 1942 to William C. Conyne Sr. who died May 11, 1978. She is survived by four children, William C. Conyne Jr. Charlotte and Gloria Klymkow of Mayfield, Danny Conyne Deborah of Gloversville and Richard Conyne Nanette of Mayfield; eight grandchildren, William Conyne III, James Conyne, David Klymkow, Todd Klymkow, Peter Conyne, Crystal Conyne, John Conyne, and Jacob Conyne; three great-grandchildren with two more on the way, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Hibbard and Ray Hibbard; and three sisters, Audrey Hazzard, Margaret Thomas and Mary Hogan.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 10 am Thursday with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd; Albany, NY; 12205.
