Obituary of Mary Grace Califano

Mary Grace Califano, 67, of VanCourtlandt Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY passed away Monday morning at her home. Born in Amsterdam on May 27, 1939, she was the daughter of Angelo P. Califano and the late Mary Salerno Califano. She was a 1958 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and received her degree in nursing from St. Joseph?s School Of Nursing in Yonkers. Mary Grace spent her entire nursing career at St. Joseph?s Medical Center, retiring two years ago after forty years of dedicated service. She received an award in excellence for her compassionate care to her patients, and following her retirement, she found time to volunteer at the hospital. When living in Amsterdam, Mary Grace was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church. She leaves behind her father, Angelo P. Califano of Amsterdam, brothers, Robert A. Califano of Amsterdam, and Anthony R. Califano of Yonkers; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Services are Thursday at 8:30 am at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by The Liturgy Of The Word and Final Commendation at 9:15 am at Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Church. Fr. Lawrence J. Decker, celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Due to the observance of Holy Week, a memorial Mass will be offered at a later date.
