Obituary of Edith I. Gentile
Amsterdam, NY?Edith I. Cinquanti Gentile 83, of Amsterdam past away unexpectedly on Saturday at St. Mary?s Hospital.
Born June 18, 1923 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Matteo and Catherine Ciccarino Cinquanti. She was a life long Amsterdam resident and graduated from the Wilbur H. Lynch High School.
Edith was a glove maker for over 40 years and was employed by Rose Snell Glove Shop in Amsterdam for most of those years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family.
Edith was a Parishioner of St. Michael?s the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and was a member of the St. Sofia Society of the Church.
On April 20, 1947 she married Nicholas F. Gentile who died May 29, 2003.
Survivors include her loving son, Nicholas Gentile Jr., and his wife Cheryl of Amsterdam; her beloved grandson Daniel Gentile; two brother-in-laws James Gentile and John Gentile both of Amsterdam; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 10, 2007 at 9: 15 am at St. Michael?s the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Grove Street, Amsterdam with the Reverend Lawrence Decker as Celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Mary?s Cemetery in Fort Johnson; there will be no calling hours.
