Obituary of Margaret C. Davies
Mrs. Margaret C. Davies, 86 years old of Maple Avenue, died Sunday at her home. Mrs. Davies was born January 14, 1921 in Amsterdam, the daughter of Stanley and Margaret Peoples Carpenter and was a life long resident of Hagaman. She was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam and of the Amsterdam School of Commerce. Mrs. Davies was employed by the former Mohawk Carpet Mills in the personnel office. She was then the Secretary at St. Ann?s Episcopal Church in Amsterdam for 17 years until her retirement.
Mrs. Davies was a member of St. Ann?s Episcopal Church, a member of the Board of Lady Managers of the Sanford Home and an active volunteer for many years in the Amsterdam area.
She married Leslie S. Davies, Jr. on September 15, 1945. He died June 4, 1984.
Mrs. Davies is survived by her son Peter A. Davies and his long time companion Claire Kaczmarcyk of Easthampton, Massachusetts; her granddaughter Kate Wade Davies of Easthampton, and three nieces; Gale Emmett of Atlanta, GA, Carol Carelli and her husband, Vincent, of Amsterdam and Janet Ward and her husband, Paul, of Broadalbin. She is also survived by grand nephews and grand nieces. Mrs. Davies was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, William and Edythe Carpenter.
The Office For the Burial of the Dead will be read by The Rev. Christopher A. Smith on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Pk. Ave., Amsterdam. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Burial is in Hagaman Cemetery.
