Obituary of Amelia E. Avery

Amelia E. ?Millie? Avery, 93, of Mount Loretto Nursing Home passed away Sunday, April 8, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. She was born in Amsterdam on February 13, 1914 daughter of the late Peter and Louisa Petruccione Giaquinto. Millie was raised and attended schools in Amsterdam. She retired from Coleco toy manufacturing in Amsterdam where she had worked for several years. She was a former parishioner of St. Michael?s Church in Amsterdam. Millie made her home in Amsterdam until 1972 when she moved to Broadalbin. She first married the late William Dixon of Texas and later married Delbert Hap Avery on September 3, 1977. Hap sadly predeceased her on their wedding anniversary in 1991. Millie enjoyed flower gardening, crocheting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all of her many family and friends. Besides her parents and her husbands, Millie was predeceased by four brothers, Tony, Joseph, Frank and Victor Giaquinto, and a sister, Mary Wittemeyer. She is survived by a son, Raymond Dixon of Albany, a daughter, Peggy Garry Wagoner of Broadalbin, four grandchildren, Jeff Penny Wagoner, Becky Chuck Ruzycky, Steven Wagoner all of Broadalbin, and Richard Patty DeMallie of Tribes Hill, three great-grandchildren, Teddy Wagoner, Bowen Wagoner and Dylan LaPort all of Broadalbin. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be at 8:30AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:15AM at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam with Rev. Lawrence Decker as celebrant. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Donations in Millie?s memory may be made to St. Jude?s Children?s Cancer Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Mount Loretto Nursing Home, 302 Swart Hill Road, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
