Obituary of Richard L. Rice

Mr. Richard L. "Dick" Rice Sr., 73, of Honey Hill Road, Ft. Plain, NY passed away late Friday evening at St. Elizabeth?s Hospital in Utica. Born on December 22, 1933 he was the son of the late Laverne Rice and Noreena Seamon. He was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. Dick also enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean War. Dick was employed as a grounds keeper for New York State in Rockland County for many years until his retirement in 1988. He was also a member of the V.F.W. in Fort Plain and the Fulton County Senior Citizens. He was predeceased by a sister, Betty Rice. His loving family includes, his wife, the former Francine E. Graulich, whom he married on October 5, 1957; one daughter, Laura Parkinson and her husband Leon of Middletown, NY; two sons, Richard L. Rice Jr. and his wife Lisa of Middletown, NY, and Glenn A. Rice and his wife Joan of Rochester, NY; three sisters, Marion Wells of Ft. Plain, NY, Norma Borst and her husband Gordon of Ft. Plain, NY and Linda Hoffman and her husband Leonard of Johnstown, NY; eight grandchildren, Patty, Heather, Amanda, Ashley, Julie, Madison, Taylor and Sydney; one great grandson, Colby; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 1p.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Interment with full military honors will take place in the Ft. Plain Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 12 until 1.
