Dear John, Kim, John, Jr., and
family:
I truly enjoyed caring for Carla,
watching her brave soul hang on for so long, seeing her smile with her eyes when Sierra came to visit her, and feeling her abundance of love for all of you every time I walked in the room. Remember my dream and how she wanted to "walk on the clouds"; she is there; her pain of leaving all of you was greater than her physical pain, but her love for you will always be there,
don't forget to talk to her and who knows, you may hear her, feel
her presence in your heart. She will always be with you. Below is a poem that helps me to deal with death. I hope sharing it with all of you will bring you comfort:
A Parable of Immortality
I am standing on the seashore,
A ship spreads her sails to the
morning and starts to the ocean.
I stand watching her until she
fades on the horizon
Someone at my side says,
"She is gone!"
"Gone where?"
The loss of sight is in me,
Not in her
Just at that moment when someone says,
"She is gone!"
There are others watching her coming
Other voices take the glad shout
"Here she comes!"
And that is dying.
All my thoughts and prayers are with all of you,
Tonye Grega, RN

I am so sorry for your loss. What I remember most about your mother was how obvious it was that her family meant everything to her and how loved you all were. There was always a smile on her face and she will be missed by many. I send my love to you all.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I did not die.

Dear John,John Jr. & Kim,
We wept when we heard of Carla's passing, but we also rejoiced just knowing she is now safely in the arms of Jesus. Her life now is just a magnification of the wonderful life you all shared while she was with you.
I knew Carla for many years before we worked together at The Colonial Agency. In the seven years we were co-workers, she was a good friend, a good listener and your family was always at the center of our conversations. Your life together would be envied by most..a legacy to be proud of.
We will keep you in our prayers.
Love,
Debbie and Bill Zimmerman

Dear John and family,
I am sending my sincerest sympathies to you at this time of great loss of your beloved Carla. Candy Banta, Carla and I were best of friends during high school. We spent many, many hours on the phone talking about school, dances and teen girl stuff. We had the most fun taking horseriding lessons on Sunday afternoons in the Fall and Spring times. She was a wonderful friend, who had a smile that would light up the room and I so related to the part about her putting the needs of others before her own. After high school we went our separate ways and lost track of each other. I was just thinking about her the other day when I came across the information about our 40th High School Reunion.
I can imagine that the pain of losing her physical presence is unbearable, but she does live on through the special things that she did with love. I can still envision her beautiful smile and I remember what a minister said at my Father's funeral that brought great comfort to me at the times that seemed the toughest. It was a poem that has appeared several times in the paper that goes something like "Don't cry for me for I am not gone, I am the sunlight on your face, I am the gentle breeze blowing your hair. I am part of the smile and the gestures that are apparent in you. I love you and that will always be" Tend to her gardens and continue doing the things that you all enjoyed the most. She will be there with you and for you.
My prayers and kind thoughts are with you. May God bless and help you through this trying time,
Janet Arnold Levine
