Obituary of Gordon J. Faltermeier

Gordon J. Faltermeier, 63, of Shellstone Road, Amsterdam passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. He was born October 11, 1943 in Mount Vernon, NY son of the late John and Anna Jacob Faltermeier. He attended schools in Mount Vernon. Gordon was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. He married the former Elizabeth ?Betty? Schiela in Mount Vernon on June 3, 1967. They later settled in Amsterdam in 1973. Gordon, along with his wife, Betty, owned and operated a dairy farm in Amsterdam for several years. He also worked as a Deputy Sheriff for Montgomery County until his retirement 5 years ago. He was a member of the Amsterdam Pigeon Club and Schenectady Pigeon Club. He enjoyed horseback riding, pigeon racing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Gordon is survived by his wife, Betty of Amsterdam, two sons, Johnathan Cheryl Faltermeier of Mariaville and Matthew Faltermeier of Schenectady, a daughter, Beth Shawn Byrne of Amsterdam, and four grandchildren, Sean and Sam Byrne, and Sarah and David Faltermeier. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will take place on May 05, 2007, 2:00 pm at the Amsterdam Baptist Church, Teller Street in Amsterdam.
