Obituary of Charles A. Macfarlane

Charles A. Macfarlane, 89 of Droms Rd. Extension, Scotia, passed away Thursday evening at Saratoga Hospital with his family at his side. Born in Manlius, N.Y. on November 10, 1917, he was the son of James and Vera Larson Macfarlane. He moved to this area at the age of six and was a graduate of Woestina High School. Charles retired in 1979 after a forty two year career with the General Electric Company in Schenectady. In 1944, he entered the US Navy , serving as a gunner?s mate and was awarded the Asiatic and Pacific Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Chuck was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and was a board member of the Northeast Parent And Child Society. He also served as a Town Of Glenville Councilman at one time. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He was a communicant of the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. His loving family includes his wife, the former Aldona A. Kubilius to whom he was married on June 3, 1950; His children; George A. Sylvia Macfarlane Sr. of Queensbury, Joan Maybee of Colonie, Christine A. Gary Ferguson of Greenfield Center, and Charles J. Macfarlane of Chicago, Ill.; brother; James Macfarlane of Scotia; step brother; Arthur Jane Martin of Penfield, N.Y.; grandchildren; Sheri Zappone, Michelle Williams, George Macfarlane Jr., Karen Lynch, Stephen, David and Scott Maybee, Bryan, Lindsey, and Morgan Ferguson; thirteen great grandchildren , nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are Monday at 9:00 am at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, followed by the Mass Of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, Rt 50, Glenville. Father J. Thomas Connery, celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in the Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-5 pm at the Glenville Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Northeast Parent And Child Society in care of the funeral home office
