Obituary of Doris P. Crowe

Amsterdam, NY?Doris ?Dot? P. Crowe, 76, of Garden Street, passed away Saturday evening at the St. Mary?s Hospital in Amsterdam. Born May 30, 1930 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Irene King Porath. She was a life long Amsterdam resident and attended Amsterdam Schools. Dot was employed by Mohawk Sportswear in Amsterdam for over 30 years and later worked for the Amsterdam Recorder for a number of years until retiring last year due to ill health. She liked to garden and enjoyed working outside her home. Dot was predeceased by her companion Harold E. Walsh who passed away in 1999. Survivors include her two brothers, Oscar Porath and his wife Linda of Amsterdam and Bobby Porath of Amsterdam; two sisters, June Goss of Amsterdam and Shirley Markes and her husband Eugene of Amsterdam; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery. A calling hour will take place from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the funeral home.
